Summer and Fall 2019

Made With: HTML/CSS/JS, NodeJS, Adobe Illustrator

After struggling and seeing my classmates struggle with textbooks for a few years of high school, I started thinking about what could make textbooks easier to read and easier to use. Tome was what I came up with.

Tome was very much a proof of concept as the actual textbook sourcing, licensing, and adapting would be the real challenge of building an app like this. In an ideal world, there would be a government funded non-profit that could develop open-source textbooks for use by anyone, but right now we’re limited to projects like OpenStax.

Tome was my first submission (and RI-01’s winning entry in 2019) to the Congressional App Challenge (my entry the next year was Quest).
